This athlete was limping. Struggling with her hip.
She even pulled over on the road to stretch out whilst her competitors disappeared out of site up the road.

But, Sifan Hassan, a former refugee who left Ethiopia for the Netherlands as a 15-year-old, did not stop.

In the end, the grueling two-hour 26 mile race came down to a sprint in the final few meters. Against all the odds, she pushed on WINING the 2023 London Marathon. Better still, Sifan had NEVER raced a marathon before, this was her first attempt amongst an experienced field of the world’s best!

What an incredible achievement!
